Meet the Stonecipher's

The Stoneciphers

We started attending Cornerstone shortly before Sara and I got engaged. Many of the members were from the church family I was raised in for most of my adolescence, so we thought this would be a perfect fit to help us grow during our “engagement time”. The original plan was to stay here until we were married, and then eventually find a more established church with a larger 20’s and 30’s aged crowd. It quickly became apparent that we were being called to be active members here for a much longer time frame, we should have known that “our” plan wasn’t going to hold up next to God’s plan.

Cornerstone is unlike any church family that either of us has experienced before. The congregation is gracious and willing, always there to volunteer a helping hand with the growing list of activities our church has taken on. It seems that all are here to truly serve God first through their selfless actions. The congregation has also continually shown us support and encouragement as we navigate through our first year of marriage together, holding us, and we’re sure many others, up in prayer.

What’s most refreshing for us is how real Cornerstone is. We are taught God’s word directly from the bible, no fuzzy interpretations, and we are challenged to get out of our comfort zone to live for the Lord each day. We don’t want a watered down version of the truth, we want it all, word for word, the good and the bad. We keep coming back for thoughtful, humble, and truthful worship/fellowship. It’s as simple as that.

The Cornerstone church family has helped us solidify our faith and our focus through one of life’s biggest transitions, marriage. It was soley God’s direction that led us here and we’re excited for the opportunity to grow with the church. We pray that we’ll continue learning how to serve the Lord better and spread the Gospel to all who will listen.

CBC – A PLACE TO CALL HOME

I am honored to be part of Cornerstone. It is so refreshing to feel free to worship and be myself. It’s not a group of people who meet merely to “do church,” but a family of imperfect people helping each other develop deeper relationships with Jesus Christ, as we grow and mature in our faith and give away God’s love to others. As I live out my faith and be a good example to my daughters, I know that I have the spiritual and emotional support of my church family.

It is such a blessing to hear my teenage daughters comment on what they hear and see in the church. Sometimes I hear Elisa say: “You know what the Bible says…” (This is quite convicting at times but I’m glad she is listening). Mara (a college freshman) says she appreciates the practical and honest preaching and teaching, and that they always make her think. As a mother, there is no greater joy for me than to know that my daughters are walking with the Lord.

I also appreciate our honest and humble staff. At the core of everything we do is the question, “How does this glorify God?” We have learned to put it all in the light of Scripture. We are committed to share the good news and hope of the gospel of salvation with others. In Cornerstone we want to fulfill that call, and have heart for those who are searching and hurting.

I love to tell others about bargains, discounts and places with great service. The greatest “deal” ever is what gives my life purpose. It’s not religion. It’s a living, breathing relationship with the Creator of the universe, the One born to give me hope and eternal life.

If you want answers, hope and purpose for your life, or if you are just curious, or you need support from loving believers, or even if you just want to find your way back to the God you once left, I invite you to open your mind and heart to the Cornerstone family.

Blessings,

Joanna

Hear What Jennifer Has To Say About Cornerstone...

Jennifer

I’m a huge theatre fan. I’ve been involved with shows in one way or another for years and I love it. For a long time I felt like church was just another performance and I had to play my part every week. Every Sunday I’d put on my costume and makeup, smile and say the right things at the right time. It seemed like life didn’t really begin until church was over, until the curtain went down…but that’s not true. Of all places, church should be where we are most ourselves. We gather with other believers to worship the God who created us and knows us inside out.

God does have a part for each of us to play in the big scheme of life…we are to show his love to a world of lost, hurting people. Cornerstone is a community of believers where I can be loved and accepted as I am while being challenged and equipped to become the woman God wants me to be. At Cornerstone I’m not pretending anymore.

VanOlst Family

VanOlst Family

Our family has thoroughly enjoyed participating in the creation of Cornerstone Bible Church! We feel that it is an extension of our family because of the love that is shown to us and our children. It is so important for our children to have a church family that will care for and nurture them. Barbara and all of the staff have worked exceptionally hard to include the kids in as many aspects of the Church as possible and to make them feel it is their church too.

The commitment of the entire church and staff to live by the instruction of the Bible and not the world is so encouraging to our family. It is a joy to worship with a congregation of believers who have such wonderful attitudes and love for the Lord and His Word.

It is also very special to participate in ministries which extend well beyond our building’s walls. The Lord expects us to do all that we can to spread God’s Word to others and that expectation is fulfilled at CBC.

Our three girls have expressed their feelings about their life at CBC as well…

Allison, age 5, says that she “likes to go with Mrs. Barbara to do arts and crafts. I like her teaching me about Jesus. I love Jesus!”

Laurin, age 7, “likes when Mrs. Barbara teaches us about the Bible and about God and Jesus.”

Kristin, age 9, feels that “Pastor Bill is very nice and kind. I know that he is there for me if I need someone to help me learn more about Jesus.”

As you can see, our kids love learning about Jesus at Cornerstone Bible Church!

Education is an important part of our family life and we believe it is especially critical with regard to our faith. We want to be able to put the Bible into context and apply the teachings to our lives everyday. We want to keep learning as much as possible because so much of what God expects of Christians runs counter to our culture.

At Cornerstone, we have found the staff (as well as our fellow worshipers) to be so enthusiastic about exploring the history and teachings of the Bible that it is impossible for us to resist becoming increasingly eager to learn. Every week we learn something new and useful to us and that inspires us to dig deeper. Cornerstone is new, fresh and dynamic; we feel blessed to be part of it.
