We are the Sixes!
We moved to Florida from Parker City, Indiana. (Don’t laugh) We hadn’t been here long before Mary started pressuring me to find a church. I have to admit the thought did not excite me. I had regularly attended as far back as I can remember only one church. Mary had attended this same church since her conversion. A combined 55 years give or take.
I had heard stories from people about difficulties of finding a church. I just planned on worshiping at home, I guess. Mary would have none of that. I remember her telling me she’d found a church, and the time when we should be ready. So, we were all up and ready to go.
I have never been in a denomination, so this added to the challenge. We had known good preaching and teaching, and had strong Bible-based doctrine. We knew this was very important to us. Most of all, I wanted a conservative, traditional church. (Folks, be careful not to put God in a box if you truly want his will in your life.
We went straight into a “contemporary” service. Talk about out of place. We had always arrived early, to get close to the front. So, here we are – close to the front. We couldn’t just get up and leave. I don’t judge any contemporary worship. We’d just never seen it, and it was strange – the female pastor wore a casual T-shirt and jeans. I looked like some kind of insurance salesman.
We tried this several times. Secretly I hoped Mary would just give up, but she told me she’d looked online and researched it, so we’d try again. I thought it was too big, fancy – and what are Presbyterians, anyway? In we went, still close to the front. Bill Martin preached that morning, reminding me of a pastor I’d had as a young boy. After worship we were warmly greeted while we tried to escape. Once in the security of the car, we silently drove till Mary broke the silence: “What did you think?” I said I had loved it. She agreed.
Since then we have been through many changes. We have developed great friendships. Bill, along with his colleague Bruce Reynolds, preach and strive to bring out things in the Bible meant to transform our lives. The Bible is front and center, not only read, but preached in every service. Worship includes a musical blend of traditional and contemporary along with occasional Hebrew songs. We always look forward to it.
Our children love it too. Isaac, who is 9, and Lauren, who is 7, are in children’s church. Maleah, 13, attends youth on Thursdays, and often helps in the nursery on Sundays. When Lauren once said to me, “I can’t wait to die,” I thought about having thought it myself before. I asked her why. She replied, “Because I want to go to heaven. That’s where Jesus lives. I share this as encouragement to our brothers and sisters who teach and lead our young people. We are very thankful for them.
We always look forward to being with friends at Cornerstone – both old and new.

Meet the Eubanks
Jim and I sat down to think about what CBC meant to us when we were asked to be the featured family on the website. The first three things that came to our minds were a Bible preaching/teaching church, opportunities, and incredible friendships.
We were both reared in Christian homes and went to church since babies. After we were married the church that we were attending was no longer meeting our needs and we were looking for a church home that preached GOD’s Word. When we found NEPC and then branched off to CBC we finally knew we were home and in the place God intended for us to be.
The opportunities that were opened to us and our son Bryant were tremendous. Jim served as a deacon, we became involved in a Life Group, in Bible studies, and we teach Sunday School for the young children. Bryant was involved with the music on Sunday and with the youth until he went away for college.
We have met so many incredible people, that we call our friends at Cornerstone Bible Church. It is great to be at a church were people really do know your name and accept you with open arms. We feel so welcomed and want to make sure that everyone that walks through our church doors feel that love and friendship. We are happy that God’s word is preached at CBC.
God is good and he has blessed us with a wonderful church home.
Your Friends,
Jim and Melanie Eubanks
Meet Mary
For a good while, I thought that this spiritual journey was a ‘do it yourself’ project, that I could listen to a podcast, or read scripture, and that was all I’d need. One day, when three podcasts all mentioned the requirement of ‘Christian fellowship’, I went looking for a church. When I first came to Cornerstone, it was a week or two before Easter. I’d been to other churches in the area, they were ok, but they weren’t what I was looking for. What makes this church different, why I look forward to coming each week, and why I’ve become more active in this congregation, is that this church, this congregation is ‘spirit filled’. I come each week to hear God’s word; I see his spirit in the Christian character of this congregation- in both word and deed. The message is built on the Word of God, that’s a given and a guarantee. The music, which is marvelous, is meant to praise God. Finally, the fellowship of this congregation is genuine; there is nothing faux or phony about it. They greet you at the door with a warm smile and a welcome. In this day and time when people avoid eye contact, this congregation makes eye contact, that’s refreshing. When you have ‘ a praise report’ they will cheer with you, and when you’ve hit a rough spot, they will pray with you and for you. The dictionary defines cornerstone as “ something that is essential, indispensable, or basic”. This church, this congregation is essential, indispensable, and basic to my spiritual walk. This is my cornerstone.
Meet the Guthrie family
For Ginny and I, it is a joy to worship at Cornerstone Bible Church! We joined the congregation shortly before it relocated and were honored to become Charter members of such a friendly, loving, and caring group of believers. Cornerstone is very fortunate to have Pastors Bill Martin and Bruce Reynolds as they instill a special vitality into their message. Their sermons and teachings are thoroughly researched, thought provoking, and highly inspirational. We particularly enjoy the “Hard Rock” Sundays when members of the congregation discuss contemporary issues within the context of the morning message.
The teachings of Cornerstone are based upon the Word. The intimate settings of the Life Groups, Faith in Action outreach initiatives, and series of Bible Studies add immensely to the interpretation and understanding of the Word through personal interaction and reflection among fellow believers. We thank God that He led us to Cornerstone to continue our spiritual journey through life.

Meet Sue Moore
Cornerstone Bible Church is a church where each Sunday I know I will get great biblical teaching. Nothing is added to the Word and nothing is taken away, just solid scripture preaching from our pastors. I never leave a Sunday morning worship without experiencing the love of God and knowing just a little bit more about Him than I did before I arrived.
Cornerstone Bible Church is where I truly feel I am a part of God’s church. At Cornerstone there is family atmosphere where people care and look out for each other. The people who attend here are a lot like me, imperfect but wanting to have a closer walk with the Lord, to love Him more and to serve Him better. As a widow, it is important that I can have a sense of belonging to a body of believers where I can strengthen my faith and never feel alone. The small bible study groups we have in member’s homes or at our church are some of my favorite times. Here you get to know other members more intimately and form greater bonds with each other.
If you are looking for a church home, please give Cornerstone a try. I know you will be warmly greeted and you will sense the glory of the Lord in this place. I look forward to seeing you here and making new friends.
