Are we a church OF Life Groups or a church WITH Life Groups? You decide?

Here are some of the ways our Life Groups have helped members of our congregation…..

A couple groups prepared ongoing meals for families of people who had serious surgeries and health concerns.

Another group painted at a members’ home and did yard work the family was not able to do due to health reasons.

A group (along with some extra friends) had a LARGE rummage sale to earn money for a mission project.

Several Life Groups stepped up to help with the church-wide Olympics by bringing and cooking food, organizing prizes, being “registrants” and more.

Another group took bookbags to the homeless at William’s Park.

June and July's Teaching/Preaching Series

Many in our CBC family have been reading through all of Scripture together, since the start of this year. We have been wanting to integrate that reading with a preaching/teaching series for awhile, and now we have the opportunity. In May and June a particular passage, story or character will be chosen as the Sunday topic to be preached and discussed after worship. This will also give the opportunity for questions to be raised and answered related to what we’ve been reading. Take advantage of this opportunity. The shared input of discussion participants will be a good boost for you, and will encourage us all as we keep reading.

 

Graduates Amongst Us!

We’re proud as a church of our student graduates, and we want to honor them. The day chosen for this is Sunday, June 6. Students are asked to bring their robes, and others in the CBC family should bring their pride and enthusiasm for these grads, as they take the next steps in their educational journeys. Don’t miss it!

 

Meet the Kliewers

We’re privileged to have Jeff and Jen Kliewer, who serve in inner-city Philadelphia, with us Sunday, May 16, when Jeff will preach for us. Jeff has a deeply passionate evangelist’s heart, particularly as he and Jen serve in one of America’s most troubled neighborhoods for our LORD. We look forward to having the Kliewers with us that day. You’ll want to be with us.

 

Life Groups Alive!

Cornerstone is a church with very active “Life Groups”. The early church grew with and through small groups. Almost 2000 years of church history confirms that small groups have always been instrumental in the growth of the church worldwide. The church multiplied geometrically not because of a huge publicity campaign or assembling people in large numbers, but by involving people in smaller groups where people met together regularly. The church infiltrated the world as Jesus promised it would – as salt, light, and leaven. Small groups continue to play a key role in the church’s expansion as a whole and in the life of CBC. Some groups meet for Bible study, some meet socially. Groups have stepped up to fill needs within their group when a member is hospitalized, when someone needed a ride to the airport in the wee hours of the morning, when a child died unexpectedly. Others had a rummage sale to raise money for a specific mission need. And, at least two groups have worked together to provide food for our church olympics while others provided games.
