Mormonism
August 08, 2012 The Mormon (Latter-Day Saints) religion is much in the news, notably with the first Mormon ever as the presumptive nominee for president by a major political party. Mormonism has made tremendous strides into American culture for the last fifty years. Its numbers have grown very large in America, many Mormon entrepreneurs, leaders and educational leaders have rested at the top of their fields, huge religious temples and leading members of both political parties in Washington are Mormons, and Mormons have become a dominant religious political force in the American West and Hawaii What is Mormonism? What is its history in America? What does it believe? How does it differ from historical Christianity? What are Mormonism's cultural distinctives? We will offer a three-part series on the Mormon religion and all of its facets during the first three weeks of August. With the Republican National Convention in Tampa late in August, many will want to know more about this still somewhat obscure religion. Our pastor has taught on Mormonism and many other contemporary American groups that stand apart from the historic Christian faith proclaimed throughout the last 20 centuries. Mark your calendars for this midweek series - Wednesdays, August 8, 15, and 22.
